Father God, you are love! (1 John 4:8) and you have given us the ultimate gift of love through your Son, Jesus Christ. With grateful hearts, we say, thank you! For there has never been and never will be a greater gift.
It’s your love, Lord, we want to imitate in our lives. We confess our tendency to love based on our own terms, or when it’s easy or when there will be a return. Please forgive us.
Jesus, you are our ultimate example of love. You have taught us that love is patient, humble, selfless, kind, enduring and it keeps no record of wrongs. Your love, Lord, leads our hearts to repentance. As we embark on this new year please guide us daily in your Word, granting us new revelation and understanding. Jesus, we want to love you with a passion that is uncontainable.
Lord, we pray you perfect our love and help us be quick to love, especially when it’s not easy. For “love covers a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8 NIV) Show us ways to spread your love and quicken our hearts to your leading. It’s your glory we long for.
In Jesus Name,
